One of our international hotel projects is the Aava Resort in Thailand, which the British Tatler magazine named as one of world’s top 100 hotels in 2013. In 2019 it won Thailand’s Luxury Hideaway Resort prize in the prestigious Luxury Hotel Awards competition.

We were responsible for the interior design of the whole hotel, including the lobby, spa and restaurants. The room types ranged from studios to suites. The light & harmonious effect in the rooms, was created by combining Scandinavian design with elements from Thai culture.

Five star luxury in the beautiful capital of Estonia

In 2015, Klaus K, the first design hotel in Helsinki, expanded its facilities with new SkylLoft suites built in the attic of the building. The luxurious 30 square metre hotel rooms were designed in line with the Kalevala theme of the hotel. To make the best of the view, the high rooms were built on two levels. Apart from high-quality materials, the focus in the interior was on atmospheric lighting in which the main role was given to the unique lamps designed by dSign. The graffiti-type paintings in the rooms reflect the Kalevala theme of the hotel.

The interiors in the extension of Finland’s first design hotel were designed by dSign.

Especially in restaurants, people appreciate a strong atmosphere and surprises. People rarely go to restaurant just to eat – at least we think that half the enjoyment of a restaurant meal is due to the interior of the place.

We love to participate in the creation of an overall experience for of a restaurant guest: the sounds and the smell of food combined with our interior solutions tell the story of the restaurant. We want to create spaces in which customers do not feel like outsiders but find their roles and feel they are important players in the scene.

Whether it is about a small café or a Michelin restaurant, our aim is to create impressive experiences that make the customers enjoy their visit and want to come back.

Apart from several hotel restaurants, the cafés and restaurants that we have designed interiors for include Tang Capital, Faro, Cafe Ursula, Mecca, Chez Dominique, Fazer and Robert’s Coffee.

The Faro restaurant, which was opened in 2014, has a stunning location by the sea in the middle of the highly urban Ruoholahti area in Helsinki. The location on a canal provided excellent possibilities for a new kind of space utilisation. The original dining room was divided into four spaces, all of them with a view to the sea. We wanted the place to have a relaxed and warm atmosphere. We have been pleased to see that the restaurant with its easily accessible café and restaurant areas has soon found its role as a place where locals meet their friends and boaters stop by.
